56.1 Methods

56.1.1 Data sources

U.S. Navy analysis/reanalysis and operational data from https://www.hycom.org/dataserver/gofs-3pt1/reanalysis and https://www.hycom.org/dataserver/gofs-3pt1/analysis

56.1.2 Data analysis

The water velocity data was averaged by month and the velocity normal to the transect was calculated integrated through the water column by three depth ranges: top 15m, 15-40m and 40m to the sea floor.

56.1.3 Data processing

Water velocity data by 3-hour increments was downloaded from the hycom server.
